Atalanta have activated an option to extend Gianluca Scamacca’s contract to June 2028, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
His previous deal was due to expire in June 2027, making this summer the final window to sell without risking a free departure. Reports had suggested his hometown club Roma, where he came through the academy, could step in.
Despite ongoing issues after last year's anterior cruciate ligament rupture in his knee, he still produced 14 goals and three assists in 38 competitive games this season.
Atalanta bought him from West Ham United in 2023 for €28m plus add-ons. With the option exercised, the striker could now remain with Atalanta for longer.
Maurizio Sarri is set to replace Raffaele Palladino as head coach, and appreciates a striker with Scamacca’s characteristics.
