Scott Parker's availability could interest Sheffield United if they endure a difficult start to the 2026/27 season.
Sheffield United have had an inconsistent 2026, much to the frustration of boss Chris Wilder.
The boyhood fan returned to the dugout in September for a third spell in charge at Bramall Lane, inheriting a side that were in the relegation zone after a poor start under Ruben Selles.
So, whilst Wilder deserves credit for ensuring the Blades didn’t really have any relegation worries, the reality is that their form over the past few months has been concerning.

Wilder has been disappointed with the manner of some recent performances, and he has made it clear that he expects to oversee a major overhaul of the squad this summer.
Most fans would be on board with that, but, as well as the players, Wilder has come in for some scrutiny himself.
There’s no suggestion that Wilder could lose his job, and many fans will believe he can lead the team to another promotion. But, the Blades will be an attractive option for potential managers, and Scott Parker has now become available after leaving Burnley.
The former England international has won promotions from the second tier with Fulham, Bournemouth and the Clarets, so his record in the Championship is exceptional.
Therefore, when asked by FLW whether the Yorkshire outfit should consider Parker if Wilder has a difficult start to next season, Sheffield United fan pundit Jimmy from the Blades Ramble YouTube admitted he would be a good option, although he made it clear he feels Wilder will bring more success to Bramall Lane.
“Parker would be a really good pick-up for any Championship club with aspirations of getting promoted to the Premier League. He has done it previously with more than one club now, and he will be hot property I’m sure.
“But, Sheffield United don’t need to change their manager. We’ve also got one with a proven track record of promotion, and he’s the man I want to lead us forward.
“If we had a vacancy, absolutely, Parker should be of interest to us. But, there is no vacancy to be had, and Wilder is the man to lead us forward into the new season.”
Parker’s availability is going to alert a host of Championship clubs who will hope to push for promotion, as he has proven he can win promotion.

Sheffield United fall into that category, and if Wilder does get off to a bad start next season, he will be aware that his job will be under threat, because the Blades should expect to be pushing for a top eight finish.
But, his only focus will be on improving the squad, and if he is given suitable support, Wilder has also proven he can build teams that can push for promotion, and he has done it on a more modest budget than Parker over the years.
Clearly, major change is required at Bramall Lane, but the Blades aren’t in a position to be splashing huge sums on players.
So, it’s about getting recruitment right, finding players that suit Wilder’s style, and then hoping that he can have the team competing at the top end of the Championship table next season.
