Manchester United youth rebuild has received a setback after missing out on two key targets.

Ineos’ grand plan

Since taking over the club last year, Ineos have made it a priority to bolster the academy.

The Red Devils have had incredibly impressive results at youth level over the last couple of seasons.

The club have also brought in some exceptional young talent such as Chido Obi, Ayden Heaven and Diego Leon. They also recently secured the signing of French starlet Enzo Kana-Biyik, who has gone out on loan to FC Lausanne-Sport this season.

The Reds have also successfully lured highly-rated former Southampton defender Harley Emsden-James to Carrington.

What’s more, the club have also recently secured the immediate future of sensational youth product JJ Gabriel.

The Red Devils are also said to be tracking FC Metz’s exciting 18-year-old striker Idrissa Gueye.

United miss out on top talents

Unfortunately, not all transfers are successful and United have lost out on two exciting young talents.

The Athletic confirm that “United missed out on two academy prospects they had presented proposals to and been hopeful of signing.”

The Red Devils made a move for Fulham youngster Seth Ridgeon but he “recommitted to Fulham.”

In addition, United also pursued former Manchester City youth product, Tyrese Noubissie, but he has chosen “to join Strasbourg after leaving City.”

The Red Devils had previously missed out on the youngster before he joined the Citizens’ academy in 2023.

Both 16-year-old midfielders “were invited to United facilities as part of the process” but ultimately decided that their future would be better off elsewhere.

United are unlikely to be too deterred though and will certainly keep trying to add some of the most exiting young talent to an already star-studded academy.
