Sheffield Wednesday are closing in on a new era under David Storch
Sheffield Wednesday are hoping to seal the takeover led by David Storch by 1 May.
The Owls are expecting a capacity crowd on Saturday for their final game of the Championship campaign against West Brom.
If everything goes according to plan, this will be the first game of the new era for the Yorkshire outfit, who have been in administration since October.
Previous owner Dejphon Chansiri oversaw significant financial issues in his final months in charge, which had a big impact on the pitch.
Henrik Pedersen’s side have suffered relegation to League One this season, winning just once from their 45 games played so far.
But fans are optimistic for what the new owners can achieve despite the disastrous year they’ve endured on and off the pitch.

According to The Star, lawyers took significant steps towards the completion of Storch’s takeover on Wednesday evening.
It has been claimed that a law firm hired by Arise Capital, the group led by Storch, made an alteration on the official Land Registry.
This move was done to protect the pending purchase of the Hillsborough stadium, which is included in the takeover agreement with administrators Begbies Traynor.
A priority search was launched on behalf of the company Hillsborough 1899 Ltd, which was set up and registered with Companies House, and has three directors: David Storch, Michael Storch and Tom Costin.
This is understood to be a standard procedure in the final stages of completing the deal, indicating that ratification is now one step closer.
Arise must wait for a decision from the EFL before finalising their deal, and they have until effectively 1 May to reach that point before the Independent Football Regulator steps in and takes over the process.
Storch is keen to meet the 1 May deadline, as the IFR taking over proceedings could lead to further delays.
It’s been reported that completion of the takeover process is now very close, with optimism rising that the game this weekend against West Brom will be the first of the Storch era.
It remains to be seen whether the club will face any further sanctions from the EFL with the completion of Storch’s takeover, with Sheffield Wednesday at risk of a 15 point deduction penalty due to potentially failing to pay the Owls’ creditors at a rate of 25p on the pound.
Pedersen’s side will host West Brom on 2 May in a 12.30pm kick-off.
Sheffield Wednesday supporters have waited patiently for a change in ownership, but that wait might now finally be over this week.
Saturday could prove to be a momentous occasion, and a show of the club’s strength even as they play their final game in the Championship before going down to League One.
It remains to be seen what kind of owner Storch will be, and what impact he’ll have on the Owls, but it’s still an exciting time for fans, who had lost patience with Chansiri even before going into administration in October.
But the promise of big changes and investment will be exciting for fans, who want to see Sheffield Wednesday return to a competitive level after a difficult year on the pitch.
