David Storch is set to arrive in Sheffield on Thursday as his family finalise a deal to buy Sheffield Wednesday.
Sheffield Wednesday have endured a torrid season, with the club set to be playing in League One for the 2026/27 campaign.
In truth, relegation has been inevitable for some time, and it was the least of the worries for all connected to the Owls, as there were genuine fears for the future of the club after they entered administration following the mismanagement under former owner Dejphon Chansiri.
Since then, the focus has been on finding new owners, but that hasn’t been straightforward either, as a consortium led by James Bord, who had been preferred bidders, withdrew from the process.

However, to the relief of all connected to Wednesday, that opened the door for the Storch family to return with a bid, and they are now closing on a deal to buy the Yorkshire outfit.
David Storch has been one of the main men behind the takeover, with the US businessman impressing fans with the way he communicates, and he has outlined impressive plans for the club moving forward.
Storch has already been to the city on several occasions, and the Sheffield Star has confirmed that he is flying over today ahead of finalsing the agreement.
They explain that Storch will arrive in the UK on Thursday, and the takeover of Sheffield Wednesday will go through on Friday, with Storch then set to be at Saturday’s game against West Brom which is the final game of the season.
The family had previously revealed they wanted to get the deal done before the season ended, and it appears that will happen, in front of a packed out Hillsborough.
Despite the struggles of Henrik Pedersen’s side, the Owls’ support this season has been fantastic, and there had been calls to sell the famous old stadium out against the Baggies, which they have managed to do.
Obviously, there was a hope that the takeover would go through in time, but, to their credit, the tickets have been snapped up anyway, and it shows the potential of the club that they can call on such support after a terrible season.

Now, with Storch in place and the takeover complete, it will be a brilliant occasion, and it will offer hope for a brighter future.
Of course, things aren’t going to be easy for Wednesday in the short-term. They will start next season with a 15 point deduction, and it’s evident that the squad needs to be addressed, even by League One standards.
So, a huge challenge awaits, but after plenty of suffering, there is finally some good news for Sheffield Wednesday fans, who would’ve feared that this day wouldn’t come.
Now, it’s a case of waiting until everything is complete, and David Storch is certain to get a superb reception on Saturday when he is unveiled to the supporters as the figurehead behind the new ownership, with the focus then on getting to work as a very busy summer awaits for Sheffield Wednesday.
