That is according to the Sheffield Star, after it was initially reported by Alan Nixon - via Patreon - that the East Lancashire side remain had renewed their interest in the Owls ace as his current employers' dismal and frustrating season continues both on and off the pitch.

It has been a difficult campaign for both Rovers and Wednesday, with both sides currently residing in the Championship's relegation zone, whilst the financial and ownership situations at both Ewood Park and Hillsborough still extremely uncertain.

However, it is fair to say that the Steel City club had seen their short-term fate become decided some time ago, with the Owls being hit by an 18-point deduction across the campaign thus far, initially receiving a 12-point deficit for entering administration at the tail end of October, before being docked a further six points on December 1st for further financial breaches.

As such, Henrik Pedersen's side remain on minus seven points, and are currently enduring an unwanted club record run of 22 matches without a victory, having won just one Championship game all season, which came against Portsmouth at Fratton Park on September 20th.

Whilst this has left takeover talk as the continued number one priority in S6, with James Bord and his consortium still hoping to finalise negotiations, several players have become the subject of departure rumours.

It has been well-documented that Barry Bannan played his 477th and last game for the club on Saturday in the 2-0 defeat against Bristol City, as a move to divisional rivals, Millwall, edges ever closer.

The Owls have also seen highly-rated defender, Yisa Alao, move to Premier League giants, Chelsea, for a reported £500,000 on a two-and-a-half year contract this week, whilst Cadamarteri also continues to attract interest.

Cadamarteri has been the subject of exit talk from Hillsborough across both transfer windows this season, with the 20-year-old becoming an impressive performer for Wednesday in extremely tough circumstances.

It was reported in the summer that Blackburn were keen on a move for the former Lincoln City loanee after his previous spell of eight goals in 31 appearances at the LNER Stadium last term, eventually seeing a seven-figure bid rejected by the South Yorkshire side in the final days of the previous window.

So far this season, the four-time Jamaican international - who has also scored once on duty for the 'Reggae Boyz' despite only debuting for them in September - has scored twice in 28 Championship appearances for the division's bottom and crisis club, with those strikes coming against Wrexham and Hull City.

It had then been claimed that SPFL side, Hibernian, had seen a bid rejected for the striker at the start of the window, although it would be revealed that the Edinburgh side had only tabled an offer in the region of £250,000, despite claims of a seven-figure bid being lodged.

Football League World then exclusively revealed on January 12th that Millwall had entered the transfer battle for Cadamarteri's services alongside Hibs and Blackburn, before claims emerged that the striker was also wanted by League One play-off hopefuls, Luton Town, in what is Jack Wilshere's first transfer window at Kenilworth Road.

It was reported by Nixon on Tuesday night that Rovers are readying a fresh move in an attempt to sign the Leeds-born forward, who scored his first senior goal in a 3-1 win against them back in November 2023.

He claimed that Blackburn have made contact with the Owls' current administrators - Begbies Traynor - over the possibility of striking a deal, with Cadamarteri reportedly at the top of Valerien Ismael's transfer wishlist.

It had also been stated that whilst Rovers' offer is greater than the sum of cash fronted up by Hibs, Wednesday are hopeful of gaining a stronger fee for their academy graduate.

However, as per the Sheffield Star's latest revelation, the Lancashire outfit will have to go back in with a third offer this season for the striker, after seeing a bid worth approximately £750,000 turned down by the cash-strapped club.

Bailey Cadamarteri deal would be an intriguing move by Blackburn Rovers

It is clear that Valerien Ismael rates Cadamarteri highly, with Rovers now back in for the striker after their failed summer move, and it would certainly be an intriguing acquisition.

The striker boasts a current record of six goals in 51 appearances at Championship level, but has carried himself well and played with strong maturity during testing times for Wednesday.

However, in Rovers' current situation, which sees them a point inside the bottom three with 17 games remaining, some would potentially question whether this move would solve their creative issues, having scored just 26 times all season to date.
