While the Owls are all but guaranteed to suffer relegation to League One, the club are still keen to bring in players due to how light the squad has become in numbers.

The Yorkshire outfit suffered a major setback when Harry Amass made the move to Norwich City instead of returning for the second half of the season after initially impressing in the first few months of the term.

But the club still have until 2 February to complete any remaining deals, giving them a small amount of time to improve the team.

Here we look at all the latest transfer news surrounding Sheffield Wednesday ahead of Monday’s 7pm deadline…

Stephen Mfuni pursuit

According to The Star, Sheffield Wednesday are keen on a deal for yet another Manchester City youngster in Stephen Mfuni.

Like with any signing, the Owls will have to seek approval from the EFL before completing a move for the teenager.

However, it’s believed that the success of Amass’ loan spell at Hillsborough could be a factor in the club winning the race to the 17-year-old’s temporary signature, despite competition from rivals.

The youngster is capable of playing at centre-back and left-back, making him a versatile option at the back, and a possible replacement to the departed Man United man.

Championship rivals target Svante Ingelsson

Sheffield Wednesday have rejected a second offer from Millwall for Svante Ingelsson after an initial £300,000 bid was turned down.

According to The Star, the Owls have again knocked back the Lions amid uncertainty over the futures of a number of first team players.

The Yorkshire outfit’s current financial position has left them open to Championship rivals looking to secure cut-price deals.

It’s believed that Millwall’s second offer was way below Sheffield Wednesday’s asking price, with Portsmouth also seeing a bid rejected this month.

Derby County are also understood to be interested in the Swede, but it remains to be seen whether any of these clubs can convince the Owls to cash.

Henrik Pedersen has confirmed that Barry Bannan is heading for the Hillsborough exit door ahead of Monday’s 7pm deadline.

It has been reported that Millwall have won the race to the midfielder’s signature, which will end his over 10-year association with the Owls.

The Danish coach has claimed it is a sad moment for the team, and for the 36-year-old himself.

"It's awful,” said Pedersen, via George Smith on X.

“It's so tough for all the fans, it's so tough for all the players, all his friends, it's so tough for the staff, coaches all around.

"But I think the person it's toughest for is Barry because we all know how much he loves our football club, how big a heart he has for this football club.

“But this whole situation, the circumstances, they are unsure for the future.

“It's been difficult for him."

Bailey Cadamarteri is another of Sheffield Wednesday’s young talents that is gaining interest from elsewhere.

It has been reported by Alan Nixon that Blackburn Rovers are keen on a deal for the 20-year-old and it's since emerged that the Owls have rebuffed a bid from Rovers for his services.

The forward has contributed two goals from 28 appearances in the Championship, and this has gained him the attention of the Lancashire outfit.

It was previously exclusively revealed by FLW that Millwall and Hibernian are also keen on a deal for Cadamarteri.

It has also been claimed that a £250,000 bid from Hibs has already been turned down by the Championship side, as they seek a much greater fee in order to cash in on the player.
