Manchester United, for example, are firmly in the race for Diomande after sending scouts to watch him in action on numerous occasions this campaign.

The Red Devils’ financial situation is poised to look pretty healthy come the end of the season if they secure Champions League qualification, while they will be facilitating the exits of Marcus Rashford to Barcelona for £26m, and Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli for £38m.

It’s also expected that the likes of Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte will be sold, paving the way for more than one marquee signing at Old Trafford.
