January 1st and the start of the winter transfer window are approaching. Roma’s top target is known: Joshua Zirkzee.

The Giallorossi are struggling in attack, given Artem Dovbyk’s prolonged injury and Evan Ferguson’s inconsistent start to the season.

For this reason, Gian Piero Gasperini has put forward the Manchester United striker’s name.

Negotiations with the Red Devils for the former Bologna player have begun, but it may take more days to close.

With the Africa Cup of Nations underway, the English club would prefer not to part with their striker before January 18-20.

This condition, as Sky Sport reports, appears to be no problem for Frederic Massara and Roma.

Manchester United would like to cash in on Zirkzee’s sale. The Giallorossi’s ideal move, however, is a loan with an option to buy.

To facilitate negotiations and secure the Dutchman—who is aiming to win the World Cup this summer—the two clubs could agree on a possible obligation under certain conditions. Roma, at present, is waiting for the English club to fully open up.
