Kamada’s Future Becomes Palace Priority

Crystal Palace have a key decision to make and according to Sky Sports News’ James Savundra, that decision is already in motion. As reported, “Crystal Palace want Daichi Kamada to stay beyond this season.” That line alone will delight supporters who have quickly grown attached to the elegant midfielder.

Contract Talks Already Under Way

Kamada is now in the final year of his deal and as Savundra explains, “informal conversations have already taken place about extending his time at Selhurst Park.” Palace are rarely proactive when it comes to renewals, but this situation demands urgency. Losing a player of such influence for free again would undo a lot of the squad-building that Oliver Glasner has worked toward.

Kamada’s Rise Under Glasner

The report reminds us of their historic connection: “Kamada won the Europa League with current Palace boss Oliver Glasner in their time together at Eintracht Frankfurt.” That pre-existing relationship has clearly helped him settle after his move from Lazio. Savundra notes that “the former Lazio midfielder has excelled, following a period of adjustment, after joining as a free agent in 2024.”

His form has turned heads beyond SE25 too. He is nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for September, a statistic that is both a personal triumph and validation of Palace’s recruitment strategy.

Liverpool Performance Seals His Status

If there was a moment that cemented his importance, it came in that breathless victory over Liverpool. Savundra states, “the 29-year-old was voted Player of the Match by Crystal Palace fans following his role in the side’s dramatic win over Liverpool last Saturday.” When supporters are already rallying behind a contract campaign, you know the club must act fast.

Palace have long been a side that loses its stars once they hit elite levels. This time, they must break the cycle. Kamada is not only a high-performing midfielder, he is a symbol of progress under Glasner.

Our View – EPL Index

If you speak to any Palace fan right now, they will tell you one thing, lock Kamada down and do it quickly. We have seen too many players walk away for little or nothing, and this one would hurt more than most. He looks like he has been here for years, not just one season.

It is refreshing to see the club actually moving early, and the report of talks already starting is a relief. Still, informal chats are not enough. Get the pen on paper. If he wins Player of the Month while out of contract in June, the sharks will circle. Arsenal, Spurs, maybe even Bayern, all will take a look. Palace fans are tired of rebuilding every two years. Kamada staying sends a message, we are not just surviving any more, we are building something. Oliver Glasner knows what he is doing, now the board have to back him.
