Manchester United are gearing up for a major shake-up between the sticks, and they are keen on the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Following a request from head coach Ruben Amorim, the club has started to take formal steps to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain. Sources close to the situation have informed StrettyNews that a fresh meeting with the Italian goalkeeper’s agent, Enzo Raiola, is “scheduled for this week”.
Amorim wants Donnarumma in his squad for his leadership, big-game experience, and physical presence. With PSG signing Lucas Chevalier, Donnarumma has lost his No.1 status, making a move more realistic. The French side is open to selling, and they value him at around £26–28 million.
Manchester United are ready to offer Donnarumma a long-term deal running until the end of the 2029–2030 season. However, wages could be a key issue. Donnarumma currently earns around €18 million per year at PSG, and Manchester United plan to offer less in order to maintain their internal salary structure.
The outcome of this transfer will hinge on this week’s talks. The gap between Donnarumma’s wage demands and Manchester United’s offer is at the heart of negotiations.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are keeping backup options on the table. Amorim has approved other targets, including Diogo Costa (Porto), Gregor Kobel (Borussia Dortmund), and Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa). Costa stands out as a strong candidate thanks to his penalty-saving ability and the fact that he shares nationality with Amorim.
