Gunners aiming to keep treble hopes alive in tricky FA Cup clash
Arsenal travel to Southampton tonight in the FA Cup quarter-finals, looking to bounce back from their quadruple dreams being dashed.
The Gunners were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final in their last outing before the international break, but are one win away from sealing a return to Wembley.
Mikel Arteta side’s run to this stage has been rather kind, facing lower league opposition in Portsmouth, Wigan and Mansfield, scoring ten goals in the process and conceding twice.
Arsenal will have to guard against complacency when they face the Saints as the form of Tonda Eckert’s side, who are unbeaten since January, suggest a surprise could be on the cards.
Southampton, meanwhile, overcame Premier League opposition in Fulham at Craven Cottage in one of the shock results from round five as Ross Stewart scored a 91st minute penalty.
Southampton vs Arsenal is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off tonight Saturday, April 4, 2026.
The match will take place at St Mary’s Stadium.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on TNT Sports. Coverage starts at 7.30pm BST on TNT Sports 1.
In addition, the FA Cup quarter-final tie will be televised live and free to air on BBC One, with coverage beginning at 7.30pm BST.

The hosts have been hit with a double blow ahead of facing Arsenal with Flynn Downes and Kuryu Matsuki unavailable due to suspension after receiving their second yellow cards in the competition against Fulham last time out.
Meanwhile, captain Jack Stephens is a doubt after suffering a training ground injury earlier in the week, though Leo Scienza is expected to play after recovering from a groin problem.
Mads Roerslev, Welington, Jay Robinson and Alex McCarthy are all out.
The Gunners were hit hard during the international break with several players pulling out of their respective squads and others not able to report for duty.
Mikel Arteta was in a typically unhelpful mood at his pre-match press conference, though he confirmed that Noni Madueke and Piero Hincapie were out.
William Saliba, Gabriel, Leandro Trossard, Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber are expected to be fit for the trip to St Mary’s.
Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice could be rested after returning early from England duty, but Eberechi Eze is set to miss out with a calf injury that cost him a chance to feature in the Carabao Cup final.
Mikel Merino is definitely ruled out, while Arteta has a big decision to make in goal after Kepa Arrizabalaga was criticised for his mistake in the cup final defeat to Man City.

This will be a lot trickier than many expect as Southampton are in very good form and have nothing to lose which makes them a dangerous opponent.
However, with a Championship play-off spot very much achievable, perhaps the Saints my prioritise promotion back to the Premier League over a cup semi-final.
Arsenal, though, should have enough to overcome Southampton and continue their quest for trophies. We expect the visitors to get the job done and rather comfortably.
Arsenal to win, 3-1.
Arsenal thumped Southampton 5-0 in January 2017 en route to lifting the FA Cup that season, but suffered a 1-0 loss at St Mary’s the last time the two teams met in the competition five years ago.
Southampton wins: 33
Arsenal wins: 55
Draws: 30
Southampton to progress: 4/1
Arsenal to progress: 1/6

A special tifo is planned for this evening’s game, courtesy of Midnite, Southampton’s kit partner.
It will commemorate Southampton’s 1976 FA Cup win, coming half a century ago in what was one of the biggest shocks in the competition’s history, with Manchester United beaten 1-0 at Wembley. A huge 1250-square metre design will feature Wembley heroes Peter Rodrigues, Paul Gilchrist, Mel Blyth and David Peach
