The battle for Lazio defender Mario Gila is heating up, as a host of Premier League clubs have joined the fray, including Spurs and Aston Villa.

Mario Gila & Lazio Destined to Part Ways

The Spaniard is considered a key player for the Biancocelesti at the back alongside Alessio Romagnoli. But unfortunately for the Italian capital side, both defenders appear to be on the way out as the club failed to make any breakthrough on the renewal front. The duo are running on contracts that are set to expire in June 2027.

AC Milan Keen to Land Gila

While Romagnoli could end up joining Al-Sadd, who relentlessly pursued him in January, Gila’s next destination remains shrouded in mystery, with more suitors joining the chase.

The 25-year-old is said to be AC Milan’s primary target for the summer, as former Lazio sporting director, Igli Tare, would like to reunite with the player he brought to Formello in 2022.

Gila’s Market Price

It has been reported that the Rossoneri are hoping to close the deal at €15 million, considering it a fair price due to the defender’s expiring contract. It should be noted that 50% of the sum would head to Real Madrid thanks to a hefty sell-on fee.

Moreover, Atletico Madrid are also in the fray, as they’re searching the market for a new centre-back capable of replacing Jose Gimenez.

Spurs, Everton & Aston Villa Vying for Gila

According to Tuttosport, Milan must act swiftly and decisively to secure an agreement with Lazio, as Gila has attracted great interest from the Premier League, particularly from Bournemouth, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Everton. Some of these clubs have the financial means to splash the Diavolo out of the water by offering the player a lucrative salary.

While Lazio appear resigned to losing the Barcelona native in the summer, they could at least count on a bidding war that drives the price up.
