Moises Caicedo has been sensational this season, but last night had a rare off day for Chelsea as they let slip a 2 goal lead.

The Ecuador star was involved in both the ugly goals we let in – he gave away the penalty for the first with a rash move, then was one of the hesitant bystanders for the second as Leeds bundled the ball in.

His stats sum up nicely what a step down this was from recent games. Caicedo had just 3 duels won, and 8 defensive contributions in the game.

Just compare that to his performance against Wolves at the weekend – where he had 21 defensive contributions and 8 duels won.

Caicedo’s teammates let him down on rare off night

Of course, in a game where Chelsea were still dominant for large parts and playing great stuff, Caicedo was still largely good – just look at his burst and one-two into the box in the 94th minute, followed by the cross to set up Cole Palmer for the potential match winner.

It’s only by his own exceptionally high standards that he let himself down. He’s single handedly saved this team many times this season, it’s a shame that his teammates couldn’t return the favour last night when he was having an off night.

In other news…

Liam Rosenior has been speaking about his team’s progress in his first month in charge, and he was pretty bullish about the whole thing, claiming that there has been clear progress under him despite a minimal time on the training pitch.

The manager also spoke about the mistake that led to the first goal – he basically blamed Caicedo for his rash tackle without blaming him directly, you can see his sneaky tactic here.
