Liam Rosenior has had a string of good results as Chelsea boss so far – comebacks and wins mainly. He hadn’t had much cause to be frustrated from 7 wins from 9 games.
Last night he finally got a draw though, and it was a painful one. Letting a two goal lead slip against a mediocre Leeds side, all through their own mistakes.
Speaking to the media after the game, you could hear his frustration.

“There were two key moments in the game that we don’t take care of,” the coach responded when asked how Chelsea had thrown two points away.
“We don’t stay calm. Moises Caicedo is a magnificent player, he’s been top for me. We make a poor decision,” the manager said, blaming Caicedo without blaming him by making it a “we”.
“Actually, how the play gets there as well. We make a few poor decisions in terms of how we press in that moment and we give away a penalty when, like genuinely, I can’t remember Leeds having a shot or a moment in the game. Some of our football, in possession, our press, our energy, was everything I wanted to see and that makes it even more of a bitter pill to swallow that we haven’t won the game.”
He’s not wrong, and Chelsea will feel the same way as well. Let’s hope we can eliminate those mistakes.
Rosenior’s coaching credentials are strengthening with every good results at Chelsea, but those who knew him before would have said the same thing. Habib Diarra was absolutely glowing in his praise of his former coach in an interview with the Guardian.
Chelsea let two points slip last night with some really sloppy play, but Simon Johnson is saying that it should be blamed on bad defending rather than inexperience, which would be a bit of a cop out.
