Calhanoglu has been the linchpin of Inter’s midfield for several seasons, serving as the primary source of creativity from deep.

However, Cristian Chivu has diversified Inter’s build-up play, spreading responsibility more evenly across the midfield unit.

Indeed, he has encouraged greater involvement from players like Nicolo Barella and Petar Sucic in the early phases of possession.

Furthermore, he has also asked the center-backs to take more initiative in progressing the ball.

Therefore, Inter have reduced their reliance on Calhanoglu.
