Josh Doig has been called into the Scotland squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers after injuries forced Celtic pair Kieran Tierney and Anthony Ralston to withdraw.

Steve Clarke’s men face two crucial away fixtures against Denmark and Belarus, matches that could prove decisive in the bid to book a place at next year’s World Cup finals.

Tierney and Ralston both featured in Celtic’s goalless draw with Rangers at the weekend but have since been ruled out of international duty.

Captain Andy Robertson is set to continue at left-back, with Doig providing cover, while Max Johnston and the returning Aaron Hickey are options for the right-hand side of defence.

Scotland’s qualifying campaign consists of just six matches, with Greece also in their group. The winners of Group C will go straight to the World Cup in North America, while the runners-up will have to settle for a play-off spot.
