New Inter Milan head coach Cristian Chivu has so far failed to live up to his pre-season promise.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Inter’s transfer dealings have hampered the 44-year-old’s plans.

Chivu vowed to lead a revolution at San Siro after replacing Simone Inzaghi at the helm in June.

Indeed, the Romanian tactician hoped to make the Nerazzurri ‘less predictable’ by switching from a 3-5-2 formation to a 3-4-2-1.

However, the club failed to back him with suitable signings in the summer.

Despite vying for the signatures of Ademola Lookman and Manu Kone, Inter couldn’t sign either player.

Lookman would’ve been a major attacking addition, given his versatility and a keen eye for goal.

Meanwhile, Kone’s physical presence and technical quality would’ve upgraded Inter’s midfield.

However, the club couldn’t find an agreement with Atalanta and Roma, respectively.

Therefore, Chivu has been unable to change Inzaghi’s signature set-up in the early stage of the season.

Instead, a 3-5-2 remains the go-to formation, with only minor tweaks in pressing and build-up play.
