Stuttgart clinch Champions League spot as Wolfsburg earn play-off on final day | OneFootball

The Bundesliga’s final day settled the last Champions League berth and the survival play-off place, while Bayern Munich closed out with a big win.

According to Le Progres, three clubs contested the final Champions League slot and there was a head-to-head fight for safety.

Stuttgart’s 2-2 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt proved enough, as direct rivals Hoffenheim collapsed 4-0 at Mönchengladbach. Hoffenheim drop into the Europa League, as do Bayer Leverkusen after a 1-1 home draw with Hamburg.

Level on points in 16th and 17th before kick-off, Wolfsburg beat St Pauli 3-1 despite the hosts’ advantage. St Pauli go back to the 2.Bundesliga next season, and Wolfsburg will face the third-placed side from the second tier in a play-off to be confirmed on Sunday.

Already champions, Bayern signed off by thrashing Cologne 5-1 at home. Borussia Dortmund won 2-0 at Werder Bremen.

Third-placed RB Leipzig fell 1-4 at Freiburg, who will play their C3 final against Aston Villa on Wednesday.
