Calcio Mercato reports that Sunderland, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have made enquiries over a possible deal for Juventus and France midfielder Khephren Thuram, after Forest received £115m for Elliot Anderson.
Sunderland are yet to make their first signing of the summer as they prepare for a maiden Europa League campaign, though hopes were lifted by indications Granit Xhaka looks set to remain despite strong interest from Chelsea.
The Switzerland international arrived during last summer’s busy rebuild, which helped lay the foundations for one of the most memorable seasons in the club’s history.
Director of football Florent Ghisolfi has said stability will be the priority for the remainder of the window, even as incomings are anticipated.
Uncertainty surrounds Thuram’s future with the Serie A side, and he is attracting widespread attention. Manchester United and Liverpool are said to be admirers, while Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and European champions Paris Saint-Germain are also named as interested.
