Sunderland retained list to include trio despite expected exits | OneFootball

Sunderland are set to publish their official retained list shortly, with Harrison Jones, Timur Tutierov and Zak Johnson expected to be named on it despite likely summer exits. Sunderland Echo understands that their inclusion reflects protection of the club’s position rather than a commitment to long-term roles.

The trio are not necessarily expected to leave immediately, but departures are still anticipated once suitable arrangements are in place.

Any moves could carry a small fee or a sell-on clause, potentially both, allowing Sunderland to retain future value if the players progress elsewhere.

Jones has been drawing interest from League One, League Two and Scotland ahead of a likely departure. The local midfielder is well regarded around the Academy of Light and has been around the senior set-up during a hugely successful period. Promotion to the Premier League has altered the pathway for several young players.

Tutierov and Johnson are also expected to move on as the club reshapes parts of its academy and development group this summer.
