Sunderland ‘to battle’ Arsenal and Man City for Hearts prospect Alfie Osborne

Sunderland are among several Premier League clubs monitoring Hearts prospect Alfie Osborne, with Arsenal and Manchester City also keeping tabs.

According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal and City sent scouts to watch the 17-year-old for Scotland U19s in midweek. Italy won 3-0, yet Osborne was viewed as a standout at centre-back.

Osborne has impressed in Hearts' youth ranks at Tynecastle this season, moving from central midfield to a role in the heart of defence.

Leeds United, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Fulham are also tracking the defender, and scouts from each have watched him recently.

Under current regulations, English sides could sign him for compensation believed to be less than £250,000. Hearts are seeking a long-term contract in Edinburgh, and Osborne is understood to be open to an exit, which could trigger a summer battle for his signature.
