Sunderland could target Almeria attacking midfielder Sergio Arribas in the summer window, according to Sport Witness, with the Spaniard said to have caught sporting director Florent Ghisolfi’s eye.
Gazzetta dello Sport claims Roma are also keen, identifying Arribas and Red Bull Salzburg’s Kerim Alajbegović as leading options as they plan for life without Paulo Dybala.
The Black Cats are shaping their recruitment after securing Premier League status with recent wins over Leeds United and Newcastle United. Other names linked include Bologna and Colombia defender Jhon Lucimi, Brøndby’s Clement Bischoff and Clermont Foot midfielder Habib Keita.
A Real Madrid academy graduate, Arribas joined the Segunda Division club in a reported £5m deal in summer 2023. He has 38 goals and 16 assists in 116 appearances, with 27 goal involvements in 33 games this season.
Arribas was previously linked with Chelsea before moving to Almeria. Meanwhile, Dybala is out of contract at season’s end after four years at Roma, where he has scored 45 goals in 135 appearances and helped reach the 2023 Europa League final, which ended in defeat to Sevilla.
