No quick consensus is emerging in the transfer negotiations between FSV Mainz 05 and Eintracht Frankfurt regarding the transfer of Jonathan Burkardt (24). The newspaper “BILD” reports that die Rheinhessen are asking for €30 million for the DFB striker, while die Adler are hoping for a deal worth around €20 million.
“We won't block a player's career move, but we expect conditions that reflect his true value”, said Mainz' sporting director Christian Heidel.
“BILD” assumes that the sum could ultimately settle at 25 to 27 million euros. Everything has long been clear with Burkardt himself; he grew up supporting Frankfurt and is keen on the move, as he views Frankfurt as a natural step forward in his career.
The right-footed striker can look forward to a salary of €2.5 million plus bonuses - if the deal goes through.
It seems like the deal is dependent on Frankfurt's star striker Hugo Ekitiké: Sporting director Markus Krösche is insisting on a transfer fee of around €100 million for the Frenchman, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool heavily interested.
