Ange Postecoglou has been sacked as manager of Nottingham Forest, just over a month after being named as Nuno Espirito Santo’s successor.

Postecoglou has failed to win any of his eight games in charge across all competitions, losing six, with a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea bringing an end to his short tenure.

It was a third consecutive Premier League defeat for Forest, without scoring a goal. Forest, who secured European qualification last season, are 17th in the table and just a point above the relegation places.

The Australian now holds the record for the shortest managerial reign in Premier League history, in terms of days in charge.

Postecoglou was appointed at the City Ground on September 9th, and lasted just 39 days in the position. He eclipses the record of former Charlton Athletic manager Les Reed, who spent only 40 days in charge at The Valley in 2006.

Postecoglou’s four league games in charge also match the record for shortest reign, by game, of a permanent Premier League manager.

Frank de Boer also oversaw just four games during an ill-fated stint at Crystal Palace. The Dutchman was sacked after Palace opened the 2017/18 season with four consecutive, and scoreless, defeats.
