There was a very surprising player who got given the lowest match rating for the 3-1 win against Cardiff City last night.

Chelsea struggled their way through the 90 minutes, finally managing to beat the League One side with two late goals from subs Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho. But it was far from easy, and Chelsea’s performance overall, was far from good.

The most surprising rating was Malo Gusto, who got marked the lowest after coming on as a sub against Cardiff.

Gusto was the big hero from our win against Everton on Sunday, getting a goal and putting in a Man of the Match performance. But last night, he was much quieter.

Here are the Chelsea player ratings vs Cardiff City per SofaScore:

Starting XI: Filip Jorgensen: 7.3

Josh Acheampong: 6.9

Tosin Adarabioyo: 6.3

Benoit Badiashile: 6.7

Jorrel Hato: 6.6

Andrey Santos: 7.2

Moises Caicedo: 7.7

Tyrique George: 6.3

Facundo Buonanotte: 6.9

Jamie Gittens: 6.3

Marc Guiu: 6.7

Substitutes: Joao Pedro: 6.3

Alejandro Garnacho: 9.3

Malo Gusto: 6.1

Pedro Neto: 8.0

Trevoh Chalobah: 6.6

Garnacho the star man

Maresca needed his first team subs to win the game last night, and none more so than Garnacho, who banged in two important goals to see Chelsea win the game.

He got the highest ratings on the night and really made the impact and difference for Chelsea in what would have been a big relief for Maresca and anyone involved in Chelsea last night.

There were some very worrying moments for Chelsea though and they got quite lucky in the end, relying on a couple of big mistakes from the home side, who had played very well all night.
