It’s been an explosive week for Chelsea off the field. Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella have both spoken very openly in their native countries, with both casting some doubt over their future at Chelsea.

Paul Merson was on Sky Sports this week, and was very clear that this problem wasn’t going anywhere while Chelsea struggle to return to the top tier of European football.

Merson fears Chelsea will lose key players if they miss Champions League qualification

“If Chelsea don’t get in the Champions League, there’s going to be a problem,” Merson said.

“Players will want to leave. They want to play in the Champions League. They want to play at the big table. So for me, it’s so important these last seven games or so, and starting with Man City at home, which is a difficult game.”

It’s pretty clear that making the top five is going to be key – but with our current bad form and our return to action coming against Man City, we’ve got little faith we will make it, barring a total collapse from Liverpool.
