There have been numerous reports about Thiago Alcantara's benching in the upcoming El Clasico between Barcelona & Real Madrid after Hansi Flick's suspension following his red card was upheld.

Flick’s red card explained

Barcelona's appealed the dismissal of Hansi Flick during Barcelona's 2-1 La Liga win over Girona.

The German coach received yellow card for mocking the referee's decision before being shown 2nd yellow card for protesting during stoppage time.

This led to his expulsion and possible suspension for the most important match of the season at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However given the current situation, Flick won't be allowed to sit on the bench for next Sunday's El Clasico.

Marcus Sorg, not Thiago will lead the team

Following this, speculation arose about Thiago Alcantara taking over Flick's role on El Clasico matchday.

However multiple spanish reports confirm that Flick's trusted assistant, Marcus Sorg will take charge from the bench as he's done during previous suspensions.

Meanwhile Thiago will remain in his role as assistant coach contributing to tactical preparations and training but he won't be the head coach.
