Thiago Almada rules out move, says he will stay at Atlético Madrid | OneFootball

Palmeiras have been active in the 2026 market and held talks in recent weeks over Atlético Madrid’s Thiago Almada. On Friday, the 24-year-old addressed the speculation around his future.

“Bastante rumores. Estou fazendo meu trabalho no clube. Tratando de demonstrar ao técnico que quero ficar. Creio que está claro que vou seguir no Atlético de Madrid”, he told AFA Estudio.

In recent weeks, Palmeiras cooled their interest in the Argentine midfielder, concluding he is not minded to return to South American football at this time. A future deal is not ruled out, though progress now is viewed as unlikely. No official offer has been sent to Atlético Madrid.

Recruiting for this position was not part of the original plan of the football department. Even so, with potential departures under consideration, Almada was seen as a market opportunity to strengthen early, amid possible negotiations such as Allan, who is attracting interest from Europe.
