Tony Mowbray has returned to management with Blackburn Rovers for a second spell. The 62-year-old takes his first job since being sacked by West Brom in April 2025, three months into his second stint at The Hawthorns.

"I still feel I've got the energy and the drive to do it and feel I'm at that point now, ready to go back to work. Let's wait and see if the opportunity comes," he said, speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times last month.

He first stepped away in January 2024, while in charge at Blues, to have an operation and chemotherapy after a scan found cancer deposits in his bowel. He later returned to Albion, then underwent further surgery late last year to remove cancerous cells from his groin.

Mowbray previously spent five years at Ewood Park between 2017 and 2022. He remains popular with Albion fans after leading promotion in 2009, and has also managed Celtic and Sunderland.

After recovering, he replaced Carlos Corberan in January last year to begin his second spell at Albion. He won five of 18 matches and was dismissed after the club slipped out of play-off contention.

Blackburn finished 20th last season, one place above Albion. They had been seeking a permanent head coach after interim Michael O’Neill chose not to take the job full-time.
