Tony Mowbray has returned to management, rejoining Blackburn Rovers for a second spell.
The 62-year-old takes his first job since being sacked by West Bromwich Albion in April 2025, three months into his second stint at The Hawthorns.
Mowbray underwent treatment for bowel cancer before that return to Albion, then had another operation to remove cancerous cells from his groin late last year. This appointment is his first since that procedure.
He previously spent five years at Ewood Park between 2017 and 2022. He remains revered by Albion fans after leading promotion in 2009 during his first tenure.
He has also managed Celtic and Sunderland, and stepped away from the game in January 2024 while in charge at Blues to undergo an operation and chemotherapy after a scan revealed cancer deposits in his bowel.
After recovering, he replaced Carlos Corberan to begin a second spell as Albion boss in January last year. He won just five of 18 matches and was dismissed after the Baggies slipped out of play-off contention.
“I still feel I've got the energy and the drive to do it and feel I'm at that point now, ready to go back to work. Let's wait and see if the opportunity comes." He told the East Anglian Daily Times last month.
Blackburn finished 20th last season, one place above Albion, and had been seeking a new boss after interim Michael O’Neill opted not to take the job full-time.
