Despite having already completed two major deals, FC Bayern continues to keep an eye on the transfer market. Now, a young striker from England has caught the record champion’s attention.

It’s nothing new that part of Bayern’s transfer strategy is to target young players and help them reach their full potential. In recent years, several promising young players have come to Munich.

And that approach is set to continue. According to Football Insider, the record champions have inquired in recent days about Jesse Derry, a 19-year-old forward from Chelsea FC.

Bayern has its sights set on Derry

The left winger, who can also play in other offensive positions, currently plays for the Blues’ U21 team. However, he has already made his debut in the FA Cup and the Premier League.

So far, he has primarily played in Premier League 2 or, previously, in the U18 Premier League. He certainly has great talent; in 2025, he joined the Blues from Crystal Palace’s U18 team, where he hoped to take the next steps in his career.

According to the report, however, Chelsea has no intention of letting him go. The Blues even want to reward the youngster with a new contract and offer him better terms. Talks are ongoing, but no final decision has been made yet.

Consequently, Bayern—as well as Juventus, which is also reportedly interested—still has a chance to snatch the deal. Immediately after the record champion’s inquiry, the Blues’ management took notice and began working on a solution.

However, as long as there hasn’t been a final breakthrough, the chance for Bayern to pull off a coup remains. The fact that Munich is even considering such players is definitely a positive sign. Amid the sometimes outrageous sums being paid on the transfer market, potential signings of young talent are always a good solution.
