Tottenham reignite interest in out-of-favour Man City star Savinho | OneFootball

Tottenham Hotspur have reignited their interest in Brazilian winger Savinho.

According to The Times, Spurs are working on a deal that could be worth around £60 million, with Savinho pushing for a move away from Manchester City.

Tottenham have a long-standing interest in Savinho and have previously tried to lure him to North London. However, they were put off by City’s £67m asking price.

Spurs have now returned to the negotiating table, and discussions are progressing as both clubs look to find common ground.

Any deal for the Brazilian winger could rise above £60m once performance-related add-ons are included, but Tottenham have already shown that they’re not afraid to splash the cash this summer.

The 22-year-old has told City he wants to leave after struggling to nail down a regular starting berth under former manager Pep Guardiola last season.

While he was highly regarded by the Spanish tactician, Savinho hardly got an opportunity to prove his worth in a star-studded City squad.

He still has a long-term contract that ties him to City until the summer of 2029, so they’re in a strong negotiating position.

Savinho joined City in a £34m move from French side Troyes in 2024.

Troyes and Girona are both part of the City Football Group, and Savinho enjoyed a successful spell with the latter before making the move to England.

He showed flashes of his talent in his debut campaign, but it wasn’t enough to earn the full trust of the manager, who limited him to just seven starts in 24 Premier League games last season.

Savinho only managed four goals and three assists in 36 games across all competitions last term.

Tottenham believe Savinho’s versatility makes him an ideal addition to Roberto De Zerbi’s squad and the Brazilian is keen on making the move.

Spurs have been busy this summer, bringing in midfielders Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali in deals worth a combined £177.5m.

Defenders Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Andrew Robertson, and goalkeeper Martin Dubravka have also joined as part of an extensive rebuild.
