Liverpool have entered the race to sign Mateus Fernandes from relegated West Ham United.
Andoni Iraola's side have joinedTottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in making enquiries about Fernandes, to understand the conditions of a potential summer move. The Reds have made contact with the 21-year-old's representatives to discover his demands.
Fernandes has been subject of intense interest from clubs in England and Europe since West Ham's relegation to the Championship. The midfielder was a standout performer in their struggling side and finished as runner-up for the club's Player of the Season award.
Manchester United are keen on a deal, while Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their pursuit of the player in recent weeks.Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Liverpool's interest is exploratory at this stage, but contact with the player's camp has been made.
West Ham want around £85m for Fernandes, who joined from Southampton last summer. The Irons spent around £38m to sign Fernandes, though the Saints retain a 15% sell-on clause.
West Ham need to raise funds to remain compliant withPremier League and Football League financial rules, but a recent shareholder cash injection has helped their position. Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen are also expected to leave the London Stadium after relegation.
Liverpool are assessing the midfielder market amid doubts over Curtis Jones's future. The 25-year-old has been subject of an approach from Inter Milan, while Nottingham Forest are weighing up an offer for Jones as a potential replacement forManchester City- bound Elliot Anderson.
Inter have had an opening offer of around €25m (£21.5m) turned down, with Liverpool valuing Jones at €40m (£35.4m).
Jones has only 12 months to run on his current contract at Liverpool and is open to an exit in search of more regular minutes. He started only 18 league games for the Reds in 2025/26.
