Trinity Rodman overtakes Aitana as world’s best-paid women’s footballer | OneFootball

Trinity Rodman has become the highest-paid player in the women’s game after renewing with Washington Spirit, underlining the United States’ surging market as Spain’s wages lag.

Her new three-year deal is worth more than two million dollars per season, around 1.7 million euros, a figure her agent Mike Senkowski confirmed to ESPN.

Rodman, 23, was the youngest player ever selected in the NWSL draft and became a leading attacking threat before turning 20. She has chosen to continue at the club she calls home. Washington Spirit form part of Michelle Kang’s group, whose flagship is Olympique de Lyon.

Aitana Bonmatí previously held the status after extending with Barça in September 2024. The Catalan agreed a salary a little over 1 million euros and a deal running to 2028. Rodman’s terms now eclipse that.

“El fútbol femenino ha vivido una inflación muy grande en muy poco tiempo, que tampoco sé hasta qué punto es real; ya veremos hacia dónde va esto, porque realmente en los dos últimos años ha crecido mucho”, said Barça women’s sporting director Marc Vivés in EL PERIÓDICO. He also admitted that Barça “nunca será el club que mejor pague”.
