Udinese have confirmed Nicolo Bertola’s injury status after the 22-year-old centre-back was forced off in the 3-0 win over Fiorentina.
According to updates from the Friulian club, the defender has suffered “a sprained right ankle” and “his recovery will be evaluated week by week.”
It seems that in addition to the next league match away at Atalanta, Bertola is also expected to miss the matches against Juventus and Genoa. The home game against Como after the international break seems like a realistic target for his return.
Oumar Solet will also be absent in Bergamo, and it is believed that Udinese will opt for a defensive trio of Thomas Thiesson Kristensen, Christian Kabasele, and young Croatian prospect, Branimir Mlacic.
The 19-year-old, who recently joined from Hajduk Split this winter, made his Serie A debut in the final minutes of the victory against La Viola after coming on for Bertola.
