TNT Sports Chile reports that Universidad de Chile are keen to bring back Club América defender Igor Lichnovsky, but would first seek a salary reduction before negotiating his transfer.
The centre-back was on the fringes after a poor tournament. André Jardine at times picked him ahead of Ramón Juárez for his seniority, yet Lichnovsky’s performances faded and his role diminished.
His current wage is considered high for Chilean football, so the club would need the player to compromise to make any deal viable. He also has two years remaining on his América contract.
Lichnovsky has been seen training in a Universidad de Chile shirt, which many have taken as a nod towards his first club.
At 31 and with form trending down, this could be a chance for América’s hierarchy to sanction an exit and recoup some funds.
The squad is due to report in Coapa on Wednesday, when official arrivals and departures are likely to begin.
