According to AS, Valencia face a setback as Copete will work separately in pre-season and miss the start of La Liga. His return is not expected before October.
On Sunday he posted that, because of circumstances around his injury he will address later, he must keep working.
He was injured on 22 February against Villarreal. Diagnosed with a meniscus problem, he had surgery in early March. The expectation then was season over but fit to start pre-season, roughly a four-month timeline.
His recovery later became complicated for reasons not yet explained. He will follow a tailored programme through the summer, spending his holiday with a rehab specialist. Carlos Corberán is not expected to have him in September either.
Barring an unexpected quick recovery, he is unlikely to be fully fit until mid October. The plan affects Valencia’s defence, who start with three centre-backs, César Tárrega, De Haas and Mouctar Diakhaby, the latter returning from a long lay-off and with injuries over the past two years.
Diego López will have anterior cruciate ligament surgery in the coming days and is not due back until early 2027. If Diakhaby and Foulquier stay on schedule, Valencia begin without Copete for several matches and without Diego López for several months, and both must be considered when filling the 25-man list before the summer deadline and again in January for Diego López.
