Vasco da Gama School that nurtured Coutinho wins excellence award

The Vasco da Gama School, a fundamental pillar in the training of Base Forte athletes, received significant recognition for its excellence. The institution was awarded the Excellence in Management Award, granted by the State Department of Education of Rio de Janeiro. The award validates the club's innovative educational model, which balances a high-performance sports routine with academic development.

Director of Vasco da Gama School celebrates

The director of Vasco da Gama School, Paulo Roberto Santos, celebrated the award and described the project as “absolutely unique” in the country. He stated:

“Our work is absolutely unique, it is a pioneering effort. No other place in the country does what we have done. Among such a large universe of schools, SEEDUC recognized ours as a reference in educational innovation.”

Inaugurated in 2004 and located within São Januário, the school has welcomed more than five thousand athletes in its history and currently serves 160 students. The list of illustrious alumni proves the success of the project, including names like Philippe Coutinho, Andrey Santos, Alex Teixeira, Douglas Luiz, and Talles Magno.

Award reflects “profound changes”

For Raphael Pulga, vice-president of History and Social Responsibility at Vasco, the recognition is the result of a recent profound transformation. He stated:

“We have made profound changes in structure, culture, and, most importantly, mentality. We have drawn closer to the students, families, and base management, strengthening the bonds that make the School a reference.”
