Brazil’s top-flight clubs closed the year’s first transfer window in profit, with Vasco leading the takings after cashing about R$ 188 million, driven by Rayan’s sale.

According to Globo.com, 42 players moved for a combined sum of about R$ one point two billion.

Rayan joined Bournemouth for 35 million euros, 28.5 million fixed and a further six point five million in add-ons. The forward came through Vasco’s academy and has been a Brazil youth regular since under-15. He already has two goals in six matches for the Premier League side.

Internacional banked strongly through three exits. Luis Otávio went to Orlando City for about R$ 20 million, Ricardo Mathias joined Al-Ahli for 10 million euros, and Vitão signed for Flamengo for a little over 10 million euros in a deal that also offset part of the Thiago Maia debt.

Cruzeiro ranked third, raising roughly R$ 125 million from four sales. The biggest was 18-year-old Kauã Prates’ move to Borussia Dortmund for 12 million euros.

Santos completed the window’s third-largest deal, selling 19-year-old full-back Souza to Tottenham for 15 million euros. He has already made two appearances. The club also moved forwards Guilherme and Caballero for additional fees.

Bragantino’s income came from a single departure, midfielder Jhon Jhon to Zenit for around 18.5 million euros. Goalkeeper Lucão joined Gil Vicente on a free.

The top five transfers featured Rayan to Bournemouth, Jhon Jhon to Zenit, Souza to Tottenham, Kauã Prates to Borussia Dortmund and Alysson to Aston Villa.
