Venezia ‘to offer’ €10 million as Lazio risk missing out on Dominguez | OneFootball

Lazio need to raise their bid for Sergi Dominguez or risk being overtaken by Venezia, who have entered the race with a higher proposal.

Sporting director Angelo Fabiani travelled to Split last week for talks with Dinamo Zagreb and Lazio proposed €3.5 million for an initial loan plus €8.5 million as an obligation to buy, but Dinamo value the defender at €15 million. According to Il Messaggero, Venezia are ready to put €10 million on the table, plus bonuses, a package viewed as more attractive than Lazio’s.

Gennaro Gattuso wants another centre-back this summer. Lazio have already sold Mario Gila to AC Milan and Alessio Romagnoli to Al-Sadd, and brought in Danilho Doekhi on a free. Patric is struggling with injuries and Samuel Gigot has not played for over a year.

Lazio have prioritised the 21-year-old Barcelona academy graduate for more than a month and are expected to return with a new attempt. Dominguez is understood to have agreed personal terms and would likely favour Lazio over the newly promoted side.

Even so, the recent chase of Jonathan Asp Jensen offers a warning. Despite being their preferred option, failure to close an agreement with Bayern Munich saw the youngster join Deportivo La Coruña.
