One of the most exciting Chelsea stories of the season didn’t happen at Chelsea, it happened at their sister club Strasbourg, where on loan Brazil starlet Andrey Santos exploded, going from highly regarded talent to one of the best young midfielders in Europe.
He won lots of awards, got into lots of “team of the year” discussions and has surely earned himself a spot in our first team next year.
One thing he definitely did earn was a full season highlight video from the Ligue 1 Youtube channel
You can see it all in the clip embedded here, or by following this link:

While Santos went to France as a big, beefy centre mid with an exceptional eye for goal, he’s developed so much in his 18 months there.
As you can see in the highlights, he’s developed his play in possession a lot too. So many clips in this reel show him pinging loan passes out to the left wing to pick out former Blue Diego Moreira, or using it nicely in small spaces in midfield.
He truly looks like a unicorn player – really capable in winning the ball, using the ball, and putting the ball in the net. That’s so useful for any team, but especially a Chelsea midfield which could use another all rounder.
We finally get to see him in (semi) competitive action for Chelsea this month at the Club World Cup, and we can’t wait to see how he’s going to fit into Enzo Maresca’s team at last.
