Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has reacted to reports linking goalkeeper Alisson Becker and midfielder Curtis Jones with moves away from the club.

Liverpool recently activated the option to extend Alisson’s deal, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2027.

However, reports suggest that the Brazilian could yet leave this summer. He is said to be a major target for Juventus and the Italian side have contacted his representatives.

Van Dijk is not worried about the transfer reports surrounding Alisson, though he admitted that it would be a big blow if the veteran goalkeeper leaves.

He told Liverpool Echo: “Everyone can feel a certain way about it. There are rumours but if there is anything concrete then we will all find out. But for me, I’m never worried.

“Listen, there is always going to be a day where you – including myself – will go. But if it’s going to happen – and I have no idea about it and I don’t think at this point he has an idea about it – then we will, as a club, adapt to that.

“He’s very important for me as one of the leaders in the team and I think he is very important on the pitch because I think he is one of the best – in my opinion the best – goalkeeper in the world. He’s trying to be back as soon as possible to help us for the last four games and that’s our main focus.

“Whatever happens after that is not something you should ask me. Would I love him to stay? Of course, there’s no doubt about that.”

Jones is another linked with an exit from the Merseyside giants. Liverpool have yet to open contract talks with the midfielder, who is approaching the final months of his contract.

The 25-year-old has been linked Tottenham Hotspur, while Inter Milan could also revive their interest in him after failing to sign him in January.

Van Dijk wants Jones to stay at Liverpool, who he feels is an ‘outstanding football player’.

The England international has struggled for game time, but has recently broken into the starting line-up, starting the last three Premier League games.

Liverpool are set for another summer overhaul, with Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson’s confirmed departures. Federico Chiesa and Kostas Tsimikas could also be sold.
