Juan Pablo Vojvoda assessed Gabriel Menino’s arrival after Santos’ defeat to Palmeiras in the Paulistão, with the midfielder on the bench but unused. He remains available for selection.
According to Diario Do Peixe, Santos announced the deal, completed his BID registration and listed him for the state competition before the clássico.
Vojvoda said he approved the move when it was proposed and views Menino as capable of covering several midfield roles. He described him as a Brasileirão player with seasons of many matches at a high level, noted his youth and added that they must find his best level so he can help Santos.
Menino joins on loan from Atlético-MG until the end of the season, with Santos expected to cover his wages. The clubs agreed a kind of swap, as Atlético-MG signed Victor Hugo, who had been on loan at Santos, will pay a 250,000 dollars showcase fee to Santos and released Menino on loan.
Born in Morungaba in São Paulo state, Menino, 25, came through Guarani then Palmeiras, breaking through with multiple titles at senior level. He moved to Atlético-MG last year, recorded one goal and two assists in 45 matches, and won the 2025 Mineiro.
