Roberto De Zerbi has voiced his growing frustration with Olympique de Marseille’s relentless schedule, revealing that Les Phocéens revealing that his players could only training whilst walking ahead of their previous Ligue 1 match against AJ Auxerre last weekend. Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with Atalanta Bergamo, the Italian lamented the physical toll of recent weeks – which sees seven first team players out of action. “We did our last session walking, because we had played only two days earlier,” De Zerbi admitted in Tuesday’s press conference. “It was a way of saying that we prepared for the match without the intensity of a normal training. You can’t properly prepare for a match 24 hours before it.”The club remain without Timothy Weah, Leonardo Balerdi, Facundo Medina, Amine Gouiri, Hamed Junior Traoré, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Bilal Nadir, while Emerson is suspended and Nayef Aguerd remains doubtful. “Do you think I’m happy to play a Champions League match with eight or nine injuries and a suspension? Of course not. In the analyses, you have to take everything into account.”GFFN | George Boxall
