Roberto De Zerbi has urged his injury-hit Olympique de Marseille squad to show more aggression in his pre-match press conference before Les Olympiens face a UEFA Champions League clash against Italian side Atalanta on Wednesday evening. The Italian confirmed that no players out of seven injured will return from injury in time to face Atalanta, which leaves OM without Timothy Weah, Bilal Nadir, Leonardo Balerdi, Facundo Medina, amine Gouiri, Hamad Junior Traoré, and Geoffrey Kondogbia. There also remains a doubt over Nayef Aguerd, while Emerson is suspended. Both Pol Lirola and Neal Maupay are ineligible for European competition. “Do you think I’m happy to play a Champions League match with eight or nine injuries and a suspension? Of course not,” said De Zerbi on Tuesday afternoon. “In any analysis, you have to take everything into account. The best things often happen in difficult moments.”The Italian revealed that his side had to hold a walking recovery session before last weekend’s defeat at Auxerre due to the tight schedule. “We couldn’t prepare that match with normal intensity,” he explained. “You can’t prepare properly 24 hours before a game.”GFFN | George Boxall
