West Brom are eyeing the Minnesota boss to replace Ryan Mason
West Brom are ramping up efforts to replace Ryan Mason, and are reportedly targeting Minnesota United boss Eric Ramsay.
As per a report by the Express & Star, the Baggies are interested in the 34-year-old, who made it to the final two in the last vacancy, before Ryan Mason was appointed.
Albion are coming off the back of a 2-1 defeat at Leicester City, where the Baggies were very unfortunate to be on the losing side after being so dominant in the second period.
But a thumping volley from Abdul Fatawu right at the death condemned the Black Country outfit to a 10th straight defeat on the road, matching a club record that was set 99 years ago.

It left Mason’s position untenable, with controlling shareholder Shilen Patel now searching for his third permanent manager since Carlos Corberan exited the club in December 2024.
Mason leaves Albion languishing 18th in the Championship table and seven points off the bottom three, although promotion is not out of the question either, as the Black Country outfit sit just 10 points outside the top six.
And the board are now acting to try and revive their season, appearing to be following the very same route that led to appointing the ex-Tottenham Hotspur and Hull City midfielder in the first place.
According to a report made by Lewis Cox of the Express & Star, West Brom are once again interested in making current Minnesota United Eric Ramsay their new boss.
Albion are aiming to appoint Mason’s replacement in time for their Championship clash with Middlesbrough on Friday 16th January, under the lights at The Hawthorns.
Ramsey was a strong candidate for the Albion before Ryan Mason was appointed at the start of the season, and was believed to be part of the final two candidates that Sporting Director and President Andrew Nestor had to choose from.

The 34-year-old is understood to be very much admired by the ownership for working with a quite modest budget over in America, and will be a strong candidate in Albion’s search to take over The Hawthorns hotseat.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United coach has been in situ in the MLS for almost two years, most notably helping Minnesota United reach the play-offs and finish fourth in the Western Conference.
While it’s encouraging to see the West Brom board acting swiftly in their manager search, West Brom supporters will be feeling that it may be a repeat of the Ryan Mason show from Andrew Nestor.
While Eric Ramsay has established himself as a top coach over in America, the 34-year-old is around the same age, had similar coaching experience at top Premier League clubs, and only proper managerial experience coming over in the MLS, none in England.
With no prior experience of managing in the second-tier before, it seems like Albion are barking up the wrong tree. They need a figure who has been in the division before and achieved success in it, while possessing the suitable leadership qualities to help inspire a squad that is currently lacking in so much confidence.
After the gamble failed to pay off with Mason, it seems like Andrew Nestor isn’t learning his lessons, and appointing someone like Ramsay could lead to their second-tier status being in danger if he was appointed and didn’t hit the ground running.
