Albion’s bleak 2025/26 ended in relief as caretaker and club great James Morrison secured safety. According to ExpressAndStar.com, average ratings across 49 games show who delivered and who dipped.
The list covers the 10 most-used starters, roughly half the fixtures. Isaac Price averaged 5.9, flying under Ryan Mason before a slump and a flashpoint with fans, then finishing on nine goals.
Mikey Johnston, 6.1, was bright early with nine assists by new year, then a broken ankle at Oxford in Morrison’s first match cut him short. Nat Phillips, 6.2, faded in the spiral but responded next to George Campbell.
Campbell, 6.3, covered at right-back under Mason until after Christmas, then excelled at centre-half with key goals. Josh Griffiths, 6.3, began as first choice, lost out to Joe Wildsmith, shone at Norwich, but errors and poor numbers saw Max O’Leary take over in January.
Ousmane Diakite, 6.3, was peripheral early, then displaced Alex Mowatt, his form triggering a new deal and first international call. Mowatt still averaged 6.4, dependable on the ball despite spells out.
Aune Heggebo, 6.3, a £4.7million signing from Brann, endured droughts yet finished top scorer on 10, thanks to seven in seven before Christmas. Callum Styles, 6.3, was a double player of the season, consistent but goalless.
Jayson Molumby led with 6.4, somewhat surprisingly from a midfield pairing with little competition beyond Diakite. He struck vital home goals against Swansea and Southampton, blotted by a Coventry red, yet kept a steady level.
