West Ham’s 4-0 win over Wolves has triggered a major shift in bookmakers’ predicted final table in the Premier League survival battle involving Leeds United, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Hammers began the weekend third-bottom, one point behind Tottenham, three behind Forest and four adrift of Leeds.
Playing first on Friday night at home to bottom club Wolves, it stayed goalless until 41 minutes. Braces from Taty Castellanos and Konstantinos Mavropanos sealed an emphatic 4-0 and lifted West Ham out of the drop zone at Tottenham’s expense.
For the first time this season, Spurs are in the relegation places, two points behind West Ham. The Hammers are level with Forest and one behind Leeds, who face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night.
Tottenham visit Sunderland on Sunday afternoon in new head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s first game in charge, while Forest host Aston Villa at the same time, both 2pm kick-offs.
