West Ham United are aiming for back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since February.
They host Burnley today in a crucial battle at the foot of the table. This match pits the Hammers, who sit 18th, against a Burnley side just one place above them. Therefore, a victory for either team would be a significant step away from the relegation zone.
Nuno Espírito Santo is still without several first-team players. Forwards Niclas Füllkrug and Dinos Mavropanos are not expected back until after the international break. In addition, Ollie Scarles and George Earthy are sidelined. Callum Wilson is fit and set to lead the line against his former club.
Scott Parker continues to manage a defensive injury crisis. Key defenders Jordan Beyer (hamstring), Zeki Amdouni (knee), and Connor Roberts (knee) are all still sidelined. On a positive note, striker Lyle Foster has recovered from illness. He is now back in contention to start for the Clarets.
The Hammers finally ended a dismal six-game winless streak (D1 L5) last weekend. They secured a vital 3-1 victory over Newcastle United. That win was their first under Nuno Espírito Santo. Crucially, it was also their first three points at the London Stadium this season. Consequently, they will be desperate to build on that result.
Burnley’s recent momentum was halted by a 2-0 loss to league leaders Arsenal last Saturday. Before that, Scott Parker’s side had secured back-to-back victories against Leeds and Wolves. Those wins had lifted them out of the bottom three. However, their away form remains a significant concern for the Clarets.
West Ham United predicted XI: Areola; Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Diouf; Magassa, Soucek; Bowen, Paquetá, Summerville; Wilson
Burnley predicted XI: Dúbravka; Walker, Tuanzebe, Estève, Hartman; Ugochukwu, Florentino, Cullen; Tchaouna, Foster, Anthony
This match will not air live in the UK due to the 3:00 pm GMT Saturday blackout.
